Today I decided to take my breakfast to work. Thought it might give me a bit more time in the morning. The upside is that at work I have a full toaster oven whereas at home I have just a plain old toaster.
The Cinnamon Swirl French Toast* ($5.59) was ok. A bit tough on the edge with the “crust”. I’m really surprised with the calorie content of the Syrup ($Not Found). It’s only 35 calories and that includes a full ounce. But doesn’t have that ‘diet’ taste at all. It tastes totally normal to me.
Lunch was the Hearty Beef & Potatos* ($6.59) along with Cheesy Broccoli* ($5.99 Two Pack). Honestly, the Hearty Beef & Potatoes looked like vomit when transferred to my plate. But if you close your eyes it tasted just fine. I was even surprised that the potato wedges didn’t get tough. I guess that there is enough liquid in this dish to prevent it. (And yes, I did open it up halfway through and stirred it.)
For Dinner, The Grilled Chicken Sandwich* ($7.29) made me lough out loud when I opened the package. To think that this is about the same price you would pay in an actual restaurant for a good chicken sandwich … and this thing is a puny little “simulated” grilled nugget. Obviously, I nuked the bun for about 20 seconds to get the chill off it, then dropped it into the toaster. Continued cooking the chicken in the microwave for about 2 minutes.
To spice it up, I added tomato slices, jalapenos & a dab of Ranch. I also mashed up a half avocado and spread that on the bun. A salad on the side made up some extra bulk for the puny meal.
I guess it is all good because I’m not hungry after.
