Today is the Daytona 500. Not going to see the race in person, but my tradition is to order up some hot wings and drink my Miller Lite as I watch the race. I can’t exactly do that with with the Jenny Craig diet, I’m going to really miss that.

Surprisingly, breakfast was pretty good this morning. The Blueberry Pancakes & Sausage* ($6.59) cooked well even by following the instructions. The “Blueberry” part is a bit of a stretch though. There was only 4 blueberries. The packet of syrup contains more than you would expect, considering the size of all the other food. Can’t find the price of the syrup on the Jenny Craig website. Sorry.

Food quality today is on a roll. The Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich* ($7.39) is surprisingly good. This is the first meal that contains a bread which comes with the little grey microwave plate to add crispiness. It worked pretty good. Although they clearly did some sort of manipulation to that bread. After cooking you can see what appears to be slight “grill” marks. And there is no mechanism on the cooking plates to make such marks.

The Green Beans with Garlic & Olive Oil* ($5.00 for pack of two) is not all that great. The flavors between the garlic & olive oil are not really blended. You can taste each distinctly and without much blending of the two. On the other hand, the left over olive oil made for a nice dipping sauce for the Cheesesteak.

If I ever have the Margherita Pizza* ($6.39) again I’m going to need to cut back on the cooking time. It also has the little grey plate for crispiness. Although it was not nearly as effective as the Cheesesteak for some reason. The cheese melted off the bread and fused to the plate. I was able to scrape most of it up and put it back on the pizza. I topped the pizza with saute’ peppers & onions and 3 slices of fresh avocado. Turned out to be pretty good after all.

So that’s a three out of 4 for today. Maybe the best day yet as far as flavor goes.
